Horadada a quaint beach town in Spain
Pilar de la Horadada is a picturesque municipality located at the southernmost tip of the Alicante province in Spain, bordering the Region of Murcia. It encompasses both inland and coastal areas, including the charming seaside town of Torre de la Horadada.

Coastal Beauty and Beaches
The municipality boasts a stunning coastline with several Blue Flag beaches, such as Playa de las Higuericas, Playa del Conde, Playa Jesuitas, and Playa del Puerto. These beaches are known for their fine sand, clear waters, and family-friendly environments. Torre de la Horadada, a coastal district of Pilar de la Horadada, is particularly noted for its beautiful beaches and the historic 16th-century watchtower, which gave the town its name.

Historical Significance
Pilar de la Horadada has a rich history dating back to Roman times. The area was once a stop along the Via Augusta, a significant Roman road connecting Rome to southern Spain. Archaeological sites such as the ruins of the Roman mansion Thiar and ancient quarries attest to this heritage. The town's name derives from the "Torre Horadada," a watchtower built in 1591 to defend against pirate attacks, situated on a rock with a natural hole ("horadada" meaning "pierced" in Spanish). (Wikipedia)
